  • Biography Aurora discovered her love of traditional Irish music upon moving to Seattle, from California. She enjoys listening to (and playing along with) recordings of Clare-based fiddlers such as Paddy Canny, P.J. Hayes, James Kelly, and Martin Hayes. Several years ago she was drawn to the slow airs, since these beautiful melodies are older than most reels and jigs. From 2008 - 2010 she competed at the All-Ireland Fleadh (the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann) in Tullamore, Ireland, where in 2009 she placed second in the Fiddle Slow Air competition. She is an experienced fiddle teacher with numerous students age 10 - adult in the Seattle area.

He sees story as being alive; a vital source of wisdom that teaches us what it means to be human while simultaneously living in relationship with the living, natural world. Jeff uses his skills as a practitioner of storytelling and organizational narrative, blended with his scholarship, in applied practice in the fields of sustainability, strategic management, and corporate social responsibility. Jeff w orks from an eco-psycholo gical approach t o help others to tell stories that communicate, resonate and make better social worlds. Jeff holds a PhD in Human Development and Organizational Systems with a focus on narrative and storytelling and is a member of both the Seattle Storytelling Guild and The National Storytelling Network. He is a board member of the Mythsinger Foundation and studies the craft of mysthsinging with Danny Deardorff.

She was a 2007 Writer-in-Residence at Hedgebrook's Women's Writers Retreat and won the 2002 Fringe First Award for Black to My Roots at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for Outstanding New Production in Edinburgh, Scotland. Kathya’s writing has appeared in Colors Northwest Magazine and she is the author of Angel in the Outhouse, God the Mother: A Creation Story, and the God the Mother Calendar. Kathya’s plays include David & Jonathan (a modern day re-telling of the biblical story) staged at The Seattle Rep in February, 2008; Dream’n (adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream-2007); HumaNature (choreopoem-2007); Homegoing (2006); Nappy Roots: A Fairy Tale (about hair and African American girls’ self-esteem); and Little Rock Nine (children’s play about the integration of Central High. Kathya is a member of the African American Writers Alliance and the Seattle Storytellers Guild.

We blend voice and world folk music with the didgeridoo as life long learners and muse monngers of many traditions. This will be our 18th year teaching and performing at NW Folklife. We emphasize an enthusiastic and fun spirit of curiosity and exploration. Over 125 participants attended our workshop at the 2011 Northwest Folklife Festival. We have been the hosts of the annual didgeridoo panel (formerly hosted by Brian Pertl) as we blend didactics and performance in this workshop. Thanks
