  • Biography Angelo Spencer was born in Brittany and grew up in the French Alps where he learned to ski at the age of two. At the age of four his life took a twisted turn for the best upon hearing the soundtrack for the film The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. A music lover was born. Despite living only two hours from Italy, Angelo has never crossed the border. He blames it on his own stupidity. After playing in a handful of bands (including the Best/Worst band name ever “Johnny Cash is Dead”), Angelo Spencer moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2006 where he began playing as a one man band. After self-releasing a couple of albums, and a split 7″ with Tender Forever, Angelo recorded a single, “Music is My Sweat” (IPU121), for K with L’Orchidee d’HawaĂŻ as his backing band. Soon thereafter Karl Blau recorded Angelo’s new record Angelo Spencer et les Hauts Sommets (KLP216) at Dub Narcotic Studio with the help of Arrington De Dionyso and Clyde Petersen. It was the soundtrack of endless trails across mountains and deserts. Soon after that “L’argent” (IPU131), another 7″, came out. Ange was once again backed up by the brilliant musicians of l’Orchidee d’Hawai, and this time was recorded by the one and only Calvin Johnson! A bunch of tours later (one brought them all the way to Morocco!), World Garage (KLP235) was born, a perfect blend of music from the 21st century, traditional and futuristic at the same time. Recorded once again by Karl Blau at Dub Narcotic, this new album features influences from Moroccan chaabi, Bollywood extravangaza, wedding music from Egypt and pure traditional music from the Pacific Northwest rock scene. Songs on this album are celebrated in French, English and even Farsi.

  • Biography A junkyard band with a heart of dirt, smoke, and wires; The Curious Mystery involves slowburn psych and garage experimentalism. Cool night air, Captain Beefheart, late night crawlers, native fowl, dinner, all over me, river blindness – these are some of the things the mysterians bide their time thinking about. The band’s K records debut, Rotting Slowly [KLP206], was released in 2009. Their follow-up full length, We Creeling [KLP225], hit in early 2011.
