  • Biography Enzian Schuhplattler is dedicated to the promotion of Bavarian folk dancing, culture, and costumes. The club was founded in 1965 by German and Austrian immigrants. We perform regional dances from Bavaria (Germany) and Tirol (Austria). "Schuhplattler" is a centuries-old Bavarian and Tirolean folk dance in which the men demonstrate their vigor in a raucous but precise "shoe-slapping" rhythm to alpine folk music and dance flirtatious figures with the women. We are a member of the "Gauverband Nordamerika," an international federation of clubs dedicated to the preservation of Bavarian and Tirolean folk dancing, costumes, customs, and culture, and to establishing mutual fellowship.

While some of the students performing have less than a year of Flamenco dance instruction, others have been studying Flamenco dance for 15 years or longer. One thing all these dancers do share is their passion for Flamenco. The group has performed through-out the Puget Sound area at several public and private events, including the Northwest Folklife Festival, Winter Worldfest and most recently, Leavenworth’s International Dance Festival.
