Mollie Singh, the choreographer, imparts to each performer an authentic Bollywood flair including semi-classical and Indian folk influences. Biography Siam Smile Performance is dedicated to perform the tradition of Thai traditional and folk dance. The group is led by Pimana Thichalad, who has studied, performed, and taught Thai dance for nearly all of her life.
Biography Astrid Vinje has over twenty years of dance experience in a variety of dance styles. She began studying traditional Javanese dance in 2002, and has studied under dance teachers in the US, Canada, and Indonesia. Astrid has performed at a variety of events in the Seattle area, including three previous Folklife Festivals, as well as occasional performances with Seattle's own Javanese gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Pacifica.
Biography Comprised of dance students at the Melody Institute, active in the Pacific Northwest for more than 17 years, the Melody Dance Group has performed in a number of events including, but not limited to, the Folklife Festival, Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts, Seattle Center's Chinese Arts and Culture Festival, and Winterfest. The group also actively volunteers by performing for senior centers, schools, and community centers. Almost all the dances were choreographed by Melody Xie, such as ribbon dance, fan dance, umbrella dance.
