- Biography The Williams have been performing the traditional fiddle dance music of the Pacific Northwest for over 55 years. Vivian is a well known champion fiddler and one of the foremost historians of the pioneer dance music of the Far West, as well as its premier performer. Phil is a well respected backup player, creator of the largest field recording archive of traditional fiddlers in the Northwest, and a principal founder of Folklife. The Williams have issued recordings of over 85 traditional fiddlers, mostly from the Pacific Northwest, on their record label, Voyager Recordings, along with publication of the only music manuscripts so far discovered and published from which dance bands in the pioneer West actually played dances.
